Six Foot, LLC was engaged by Sony Pictures Television to create, design and develop a consumer-focused website experience in support of the series launch of the ABC television show, Cashmere Mafia. Being the only independent television studio remaining in Hollywood, Sony Pictures Television needed to use this important opportunity to bolster its marketing efforts. The website would introduce and promote the television show to new viewers while providing an informational resource for existing viewers.

CHALLENGE:
Because this was a solely independent effort by Sony Pictures Television, Six Foot was charged with creating a site that provided basic series information and additional interactive content—without competing with ABC's "official" series site. A few of our most important mandates:

  • Capture the intrinsic essence of the world of Cashmere Mafia.
  • Create a website unique in form and function from the everyday, run-of-the-mill TV series sites.
  • Successfully extend the unique branding of the series to a wider audience in an original way.
  • Deliver traditional program information such as cast, synopsis and crew details in an innovative format.
  • Bridge the gap between the storyline mythos and the "real world" by sharing with the audience details about the genuine interior design utilized and fashion lines worn by the cast of the show.

IDEA:
Six Foot's approach involved designing a creative look and feel that reflected the attitude and style of the show, especially that of its main characters and their unique bond. Inspired by amazing assets provided by the show's producers, Six Foot conceived the idea to create a faux online "eMagazine" featuring the women of New York's Cashmere Mafia—their roads to success, their likes and dislikes, their favorite fashions, styles and music, and their bonds.

Additionally, the magazine-style concept demanded a translation of the real-world magazine experience to an online experience without resorting to the conventional virtual-reality magazine-flip. Our end solution, an intuitive "drag and drop/flip" navigation, has garnered us the most attention because of its ease of flow and stylistic flair.

RESULTS:
Six Foot successfully delivered a creative, modern and attractive interactive website above and beyond the client's expectations under a difficult and ever-changing schedule. The Cashmere Mafia eMagazine website has received much attention and accolades from viewers, network executives and industry professionals, resulting in a number of honors and awards.
